Abstract

Cancer is a devastating disease that has a significant impact on the mental health of
patients. However, social support has been identified as a crucial factor in mitigating the
negative impact of cancer on mental health outcomes. This article reviews the literature on
the influence of social support on the mental health outcomes of cancer patients. The
article discusses the positive effects of social support on mental health outcomes,
including specific types of social support that are particularly beneficial for cancer
patients. Moreover, the article highlights the barriers that cancer patients may face in
accessing social support and suggests ways to address these barriers.
