Abstract

This paper provides a comprehensive examination of cybersecurity measures within e-government systems in East
Africa. It begins with an overview of the importance of cybersecurity in e-government, emphasizing the need to
protect sensitive data and ensure the integrity of digital services. The paper then explores key aspects of
cybersecurity, including risk assessment and management, data encryption, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention
systems, access control, and security awareness training. Each section highlights the significance of these measures
in enhancing the security and resilience of e-government systems. The conclusion underscores the importance of
continuous vigilance and investment in cybersecurity technologies to address evolving threats effectively. Overall,
this paper serves as a valuable resource for understanding and implementing cybersecurity best practices in East
African e-government initiatives.
