Abstract

HIV/AIDS remains a critical public health challenge in West Africa, where inadequate healthcare infrastructure,
limited access to antiretroviral therapy (ART), and a shortage of skilled healthcare workers exacerbate the epidemic.
Training healthcare workers in HIV/AIDS management is an essential strategy to improve patient outcomes and
enhance care delivery. This study reviews successful healthcare worker training programs in West Africa, with a
focus on initiatives in Nigeria, Senegal, and Côte d'Ivoire. Through an examination of culturally relevant and
sustainable training approaches, the study highlights the key components of successful programs, including
structured modules, integration with national health policies, the use of technology for remote learning, and
mentorship. The findings emphasize the importance of continuous professional development, community
involvement, and the scaling of training efforts to address the diverse needs of the region's healthcare system.
Despite challenges such as funding limitations and infrastructural barriers, the review underscores the need for
sustainable and integrated training models to combat HIV/AIDS effectively in West Africa.
